Arizona Runners Hockey

The Arizona Runners Hockey Club is proud to announce their affiliation with the Arizona Jr. Red Hawks. "This has been a long term goal and vision of the PWC Hockey Club to have a Mite through Jr. program" said Dave Masten, President of the PWC Hockey Club.

The Arizona Redhawks are a Junior A Tier III ice hockey team. They play in the talent laden and competitive Western States Hockey League (WSHL). Although most teams are located in the Southwestern US, the league has teams that stretch from Idaho to Eastern Texas. The Redhawks cater to the local talent but are securing players from across the US and have invites from as far away as Sweden and Finland.

The affiliation will be a huge benefit to the Arizona Runners Hockey Club. Coach Rob Powell of the Arizona Redhawks outlined the some of the following benefits:

• Establishes a Mite through Jr. program within the Runners.
• Keep kids from leaving town to play hockey at higher levels.
• Have a Mentor program that includes 18-20 yr old Jr. players
• Enhances the existing midget program. By having the Redhawks involved this will attract the state's “better” players as they can be part of a Jr Program.
• Player movement between the Runners midget program and the Redhawks:
  • Redhawk players that are of midget age will be able to dress for Runners when they aren’t dressing for Redhawks.
  • Runners midget players will be able to practice with the Redhawks when approved by both coaches.
• Redhawks will be involved in summer camps for the Runners.
• Redhawks staff will help with Runners Players Skill Development in the summer.
• Redhawks Staff may help with coaching development of Runners coaches.
• Redhawks players will adopt the team that they mentor and support the team by being at their games.
• Runners teams will be invited into the Redhawks locker room to see how Jr. players prepare for games.
• Runners Coaches will be invited to be with Redhawks Coaches before, during and after games to see what’s involved at the higher levels of coaching.
• At each Redhawk home game a Runners team will be introduced to the crowd.
• Jr. Redhawks Booster Club Includes: 3 hr camp, camp jersey and season Ticket $175.
